Ear Moulds

An ear mould carries sound from a behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aid into your ear. It also helps ensure that the hearing aid rests securely on your ear. A well-fitting earmould helps prevent feedback whistling from the hearing aid by preventing sound leakage.

When you need a new mould: your hearing aid whistles more than before; the mould feels loose, tight or sore; the tube has gone hard, yellow or cracked; or a child has grown (children's ear canals change quickly).

How ear moulds are made: our audiologist takes an impression of your ear with soft impression material. It takes a few minutes and does not hurt. The mould is made from this impression so it matches the shape of your ear, and we fit it to your hearing aid at the clinic.
